policies
• Embracing attention to detail, transparency, and accountability
• Strong multitasking and task management skills
• Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic
• Treating a client or task at 5:15 P.M. on a Friday with the same care and compassion as one Monday

Criminal Defense Attorney
OVERVIEW:

Do you have quality experience as a criminal defense attorney and are looking to join a firm that excels in making a positive impact in people’s lives, both inside the courtroom and in our community? Perhaps you are a solo practitioner who loves what you do, but has grown tired of the responsibilities of running a law firm? Or you are a current Public Defender or District Attorney who knows it is time to make a change, but does not want to leave a career in criminal law?

Our rapidly growing, San Diego based, criminal defense law firm is seeking a detail oriented, highly organized, passionate, emotionally mature, and self-directed attorney to join our team. Since 2010, the firm has helped good people regain control of their future when charged with a crime, providing unsurpassed service to those who call upon us to help them during what is likely the most stressful times in their lives. We pride ourselves in being unique in the way we approach everything related to criminal defense and business. Anyone considering joining our team must embody the principle that “excellence is a habit and not an act,” and be able to thrive in a modern, fast-paced law firm environment.

Other requirements include, but will not be limited to possessing an ability to:
• Handle criminal cases from initial consultation through resolution in both state and federal courts
within San Diego County;
• With the support of the Firm, generate, cultivate and convert viable clients with an overall goal
to increase the Firm’s revenue;
• Be a team player and serve as a reinforcement to the other attorneys at the Firm when needed.

EDUCATION, BACKGROUND, & SALARY:

Candidates must have experience as a practicing criminal attorney in California, preferably San Diego County. We are looking for someone with exemplary problem-solving, negotiation, communication, and time management skills who can hit the ground running. Quality over quantity (in years) of experience is what matters most. Equally important is the candidate’s personality, character, intelligence, and overall integrity. Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is preferred, but not required.

The successful candidate will have opportunities for personal, professional, and financial growth. The compensation package includes base salary, commensurate with skill and experience, plus generous bonus compensation for revenue generated for the Firm, along with specifically outlined profit sharing potential when the firm exceeds its stated revenue goals. We offer health care expense reimbursement and a generous PTO/Sick time policy. Additional benefits are in the works for 2022 and beyond. The sky is the limit when it comes to your earnings potential here.

TO APPLY:

Please send a Cover Letter, Resume, and References (yes, we will check) to Careers@DPShapiro.com. The subject line of the email should read “Trevoritano 2021 at LOODPS”. The cover letter should be entirely in italics and include: (1) what are the 3 most important qualities a criminal defense attorney must possess and why you believe they are so essential; (2) what are your personal and professional goals over the next three years; (3) why you applied to this ad.
